about

Initially a Vangelis-inspired synth jam until Ben put some 80's drum beats and extra programming down and it became more of a song. It doesn't really sound like any of our other songs but who cares? The theme is jealousy and how destructive and corrosive an emotion it can be.

lyrics

Throw a coin in the wishing well
Make a wish you can never tell
Cool breeze on your tired face
Bringing sounds from another place
What more can you really need
From a world overflowing with greed?
It’s your brother on the other side
Wishing that you’ll never collide

Maybe I wanted the feeling
Of having it all for a day
A fickle dream they say
Misery waits in the shadows
Isn’t it time to come clean?
But all I see is green

Drawn in to an endless sin
Irresistible when you win
Hold back or dive straight in
Might never be genuine
Footsteps that leave no trace
Like a ghost moving place to place
Lost words that you carry around
Never been used since they were found

Maybe I wanted the feeling
Of having it all for a day
A fickle dream they say
Misery waits in the shadows
Isn’t it time to come clean?
But all I see is green

Maybe I did hurt your feelings
Maybe I even made you cry
But now you know I lied
Again and again just to save face
Isn’t it time to come clean?
But all I see is green

about

New Olympians Glasgow, UK

"Electrifying and powerfully gripping" Nessi Holt (Radio KC)

New Olympians are a band of explorers; always evolving, learning, pursuing their muse regardless of audience expectations or genre. They sound like a blend of The Who’s blues-rock with Beck’s eclectic indie. Michael's standout vocals have been likened to Roger Daltry’s sincere tone and Jamie Woon’s rhythmic soulful style. ... more
