about

‘Watch Out’ features lyrics about a person who fears their lover wants to kill them, however neither Michael or Benjamin are afraid of this! The song was the first they wrote before they decided to start the band, and is actually about a very sad looking couple Benjamin saw on Dumbarton road when he lived in Glasgow.

lyrics

I once feared monsters under the bed
Now something's hidden under my head
It must have been stowed away for later use
It's form is bulky, solid, obtuse
I don't know how this has happened
Our lofty dreams are now flattened
I'll find any bottle and slug it
Now my grave's ready; my lover's dug it

People say to me
You'll just have to watch out
My fears haunting me
You'll just have to watch out

Someone's hearts not in it anymore
They show more interest in any bore
They don't spend any time with me
This loneliness has blinded me
I'll find a way out into the light
I'll make my way undercover of night
I don't know how to cut all my ties
To a life built upon one big lie

People say to me
You'll just have to watch out
My fears haunting me
You'll just have to watch out

New Olympians Glasgow, UK

"Electrifying and powerfully gripping" Nessi Holt (Radio KC)

New Olympians are a band of explorers; always evolving, learning, pursuing their muse regardless of audience expectations or genre. They sound like a blend of The Who’s blues-rock with Beck’s eclectic indie. Michael's standout vocals have been likened to Roger Daltry’s sincere tone and Jamie Woon’s rhythmic soulful style. ... more
